"Sitting at my desk, slouched, poor posture, feeling down, only exercise is walking to the washrooms.

That is what my days used to be like. Now with the help of Nicola, I am taking more care of my body and soul. Nicola teaches yoga to corporate staff during her lunch hour. She commits her free time to help others grow both physically and spiritually.

When I first heard about a beginner yoga program, I thought, what the heck, I will give it a try. It can’t be that hard, there is no jumping, running or climbing stairs. But then again, if there isn’t any of that, what good could it be. Well to my pleasant surprise, when I went to my first yoga class, I was introduced to more then just a physical work out; it was an eye opening experience to my whole well being.

Nicola speaks to everyone with a kind caring voice, and her words are more then just words, she clearly cares about each and everyone one. She encourages each person to be their best, without competition. In this world of competition, it is wonderful to be encouraged not to be competitive. It is all about me, even though each person in the class is thinking the same thing.

Nicola wants to make sure that everyone is doing their own best. Which in turn, helps everyone look inside themselves to be the best they can be.

When I return to my desk after yoga, I feel renewed. I come back with such a positive attitude towards any situation that comes across my desk. I treat others with more kindness and appreciation. There is a time in yoga that everyone is quiet and still. By doing this, it releases so much stress, it is better then being rude to a co-worker. All your troubles are forgotten, a time to re-evaluate, a time out of our busy schedules to take a break. Nicola really makes you look at yourself in a more positive manner.

By Nicola volunteering her time teaching yoga, she has made such a positive impact. The people in the class are from every area of the corporation. Therefore, each one of these people are taking that positive attitude back to their co-workers. Kindness can be contagious.

Her final words of a class I am hearing, that I can make a difference, I can give that extra smile, give that extra pat on the back to everyone we meet. If everyone spent their day with the yoga psychology, wouldn’t the world be a little brighter, and because of Nicola, employees are carrying around less stress, are kinder to others, and are taking better care of themselves."
